Deborah Rivera, Ph.D., LMHC

Dr. Deborah Rivera is a bilingual (English/Spanish) psychotherapist who has over 20 years experience providing therapeutic services in outpatient, inpatient, residential settings and correctional facilities. She has a doctoral degree in General Psychology and a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.

Dr. Rivera believes in the human potential to deal and overcome psychological conditions. She has worked with most areas of mental health, and has seen that building trust- a strong rapport, providing support, and teaching the necessary strategies to patients, help them reduce clinical symptoms, maintain emotional stability, function better in general, and achieve their goals in life.

Dr.Rivera’s dissertations at the doctoral and master levels were about “schizophrenic thought” and “alcoholism”; respectively. Dr. Rivera has vast experience with patients diagnosed with Major Psychiatric Disorders (Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorders, Major Depressive Disorders), alcoholism, and drug abuse-dependence. She also has extensive clinical experience with children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Her eclectic approach to psychotherapy includes: psycho education, Insight oriented, supportive, cognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as behavioral strategies according to the needs of the treated population.
