Vivian A. Charneco, M.D.
Founder & CEO. Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Vivian Charneco is the founder and Medical Director of Mindful Behavioral Healthcare. Dr. Charneco has over 25 years of experience in treating mental health and behavioral conditions. Her initial training in the medical field was in Puerto Rico, where she completed a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Puerto Rico. She completed medical school at the Ponce School of Medicine. Later on, she attended the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where she received her psychiatric training and completed a fellowship in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry. She also received training in Psychoanalysis at the Philadelphia Psychoanalytic Institute.
Dr. Charneco held different professional roles throughout her career at several setting, both clinical and administrative in nature, where she applied and improved her knowledge in adult, adolescent, and adult psychiatry.
After years of practice in traditional psychiatry, she realized that it was necessary to incorporate a holistic approach in order to integrate mind, body, and spirit. During this quest, she had the opportunity to be trained in Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis techniques by renowned psychiatrist Dr. Brian Weiss, author of the book “Many Lives, Many Masters.”
Dr. Charneco is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Florida Psychiatric Society, and PanAmerican Medical Association.
Gustavo V. Ruiz, M.D.
Dr. Gustavo Ruiz is an innovative bilingual (English-Spanish) psychiatrist with more than 15 years of proven clinical experience evaluating and treating patients with psychiatric and psychological disorders. He has expertise working in mental health institutes, public and private hospitals, primary care centers, and clinics.
Dr. Ruiz studied Medicine at the Puerto Rico Institute of Psychiatry, where he completed his residency in psychiatry. He has in-depth knowledge in treating and managing different age groups such as children, adults, and geriatric patients.

Luis J. Olivera-Rodriguez, M.D.
Board Certified Psychiatrist
Dr. Luis Olivera-Rodriguez is a Board Certified General Psychiatrist with more than 5 years of experience in the treatment of psychiatric and psychological conditions. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Science and a Master in Public Health at the Medical Sciences Campus from the University of Puerto Rico. He later obtained his Doctorate Degree in Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, and a residency in General Psychiatry from that same institution. He is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Florida Psychiatric Society. Dr. Olivera is one of the few psychiatrists trained in the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) program, an innovative treatment modality currently being used to successfully treat patients suffering from Major Depression.
Dr. Olivera is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and has vast experience attending all populations from different cultural backgrounds, with a special interest in geriatric patients. He likes to integrate all aspects of a patient’s health into his treatment techniques by using pharmacogenetic testing to evaluate which medications are best according to his patients’ conditions. Dr. Olivera is now a proud member of the Mindful Behavioral Healthcare’s professional team.
Ruben Ocasio-Ferrer, M.D.
Dr. Ocasio graduated from the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Puerto Rico and completed his specialty in Psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Bethesda, Maryland. In his more than 30 years of experience he has served as Medical Director of Community Mental Health Centers and of Eating Disorders Programs. He has also been involved in numerous central nervous system clinical trials, and has continued to treat high functioning individuals in private practice. While in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Ocasio was recognized by the Ohio Department of Mental Health for his efforts in enhancing the quality of life of severely mentally ill individuals.
In the past decade, in addition to seeing patients in private practice, he has served as the treating psychiatrist for the Florida Assertive
Community Treatment program in Osceola County, as a Consulting Psychiatrist for numerous Skilled Nursing Facilities in the Central Florida area, and as a Principal Clinical Research Investigator. Dr. Ocasio is bilingual in English and Spanish. Besides using psychotropic medications, he uses natural and herbal products when indicated, and integrates the patients’ beliefs and their cultural background when formulating the treatment approach for his patients.
Dr. Miguel Meléndez, M.D.
General Practitioner with Psychatric, Experience in Adults Certification in Treating Opioid, Dependency with the Medication Suboxone
Dr. Miguel Meléndez is a bilingual (English-Spanish) physician with over 15 years of experience in the field of general medicine. He has worked in various settings including emergency rooms, primary care clinics, and psychiatric hospitals. Since 2005, Dr. Melendez provided services at the First Hospital Panamericano in Cidra, Puerto Rico where he gained valuable experience treating patients with psychiatric conditions.
He was a distinguished board member of the Movement for Attaining Independent Living (MAVI) for people with developmental disabilities and lobbied funds in Washington D.C. on behalf of this center. Dr. Miguel is a hard-working, ethical professional who enjoys helping those in need and is now a proud member of Mindful Behavioral Healthcare.
Dr. Nasim David, M.D.
Pediatrician with Mental Health Experience
Dr. Nasim David is a bilingual (English-Spanish) Pediatrician with over 35 years of substantive clinical experience. Dr. Nasim received his Cum Laude Medical Degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo in Dominican Republic, and completed his pediatric residency at the Jose N. Gandara Regional Hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was Director of the Pediatrics Department at Tricoche Hospital in Ponce, Puerto Rico, professor at the Center for Education and Development of Homeopathy in Puerto Rico and now a proud member of Mindful Behavioral Healthcare.
His primary focus in the area of pediatrics is diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases, as well as children’s growth and development. Dr. Nasim’s expertise ranges from programs in Ob-Gyn, surgery, sports, internal medicine and pediatric emergency care. The principle that always guided Dr. David in his years of experience as a pediatrician has been to give the best care to his patients, their families and the community.
Robert Bennett, P.A.-C
Robert Bennett is an NCCPA certified physician assistant and graduate of NOVA Southeastern University, Orlando. During his education, he completed eight clinical rotations in a variety of disciplines, including outpatient child and adult psychiatry. His clinical psychiatric experience sparked a desire to pursue that discipline and led him to Mindful Behavioral Healthcare. Holding a Masters of Medical Science degree and graduating with honors, Robert continues his education and is actively pursuing his Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Psychiatry. Robert is passionate about mental health, patient well-being, and human dignity. As a medical provider he believes that an integrative solution of medication management and talking therapy delivers the greatest benefit in patients’ lives. He is a proud member of American Academy of the Physician Assistants, the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Neuroscience Education Institute.
Jose L. Rivera, Ph.D.
Dr. Jose Rivera has more than 16 years of combined experience in outpatient, inpatient, and residential settings. With a strong knowledge of both clinical and spiritual aspects of Psychology, Dr. Rivera has been able to provide professional services helping and assisting people with emotional and/or spiritual conflicts. Dr. Rivera holds a Doctoral of Philosophy degree in Metaphysics/Spiritual Psychology and Health Psychology, a Master’s degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, and an additional Master’s degree in Pastoral Ministries with specialized training on spiritual direction.
Dr. Rivera also specializes in suicide prevention, trauma (PTSD), meditation/relaxation (Mindfulness), and dream interpretation. He is a National Board Certified Fellow in Clinical Hypnotherapy, Board Certified Spiritual Counselor, Board Certified Professional Counselor, Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, Certified Master Life Coach, State Certified DUI Instructor & Evaluator, and a motivational speaker. Deborah Rivera, Ph.D., L.M.H.C.

Dr. Deborah Rivera is a bilingual (English-Spanish) psychotherapist who has over 20 years experience providing therapeutic services in outpatient, inpatient, residential settings and correctional facilities. She has a doctoral degree in General Psychology and a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.
Dr. Rivera believes in the human potential to deal and overcome psychological conditions. She has worked with most areas of mental health, and has seen that building trust- a strong rapport, providing support, and teaching the necessary strategies to patients, help them reduce clinical symptoms, maintain emotional stability, function better in general, and achieve their goals in life.
Dr.Rivera’s dissertations at the doctoral and master levels were about “schizophrenic thought” and “alcoholism”; respectively. Dr. Rivera has vast experience with patients diagnosed with Major Psychiatric Disorders (Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorders, Major Depressive Disorders), alcoholism, and drug abuse-dependence. She also has extensive clinical experience with children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Her eclectic approach to psychotherapy includes: psycho education, Insight oriented, supportive, cognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as behavioral strategies according to the needs of the treated population.
Kristine Cuellar, L.M.H.C.
Licensed Mental Health Counselor with Experience with Children, Adolescents & Adults
Kristine Cuellar is a progressive therapist that works from a strength-based psychodynamic approach with over 15 years in therapeutic-based services and six years of psychotherapy. She received her B.A. in psychology from Rollins College and went on to complete her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from University of Central Florida. She is currently licensed with the state of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
During her career, she has worked with young children to older adults and specifically enjoys the therapeutic relationship in a one-on-one setting, “there is just something about being there to witness the ‘AHA’ when the person sitting in front of you makes a connection that will change their lives.” Ms. Cuellar treats a wide variety of mood and anxiety disorders and assists people in dealing with trauma, grief, LGBTQIA issues, poor self-esteem, interpersonal issues, food issues, substance abuse, and self-harming behaviors.

Rosa Beltre is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience providing mental health services in residential, outpatient, inpatient and crisis unit services to adults and children in New York and Florida. She has a bachelor’s degree from Queens College in Psychology and Women Studies as well as a Master’s degree from Hunter College School of Social Work with a Concentration in Case and Group Work. Ms. Beltre is also an Acupuncture Detox Specialist with extensive experience in the area of addiction and a registered hypnotherapist. She has provided social services and missionary work in Latin America, West Africa and Ghana.
Ms. Beltre uses an eclectic approach to treat her patients by providing insight oriented, cognitive behavioral and psycho-dynamic therapy. She is also passionate about working with patients suffering from severe and persistent conditions such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, by treating each case as a unique one as a way of helping each individual accomplish their maximum potential during their therapeutic process.

Throughout her career, she has worked with a variety of demographics including children, adolescents, adults, families, couples in various outpatient and inpatient settings.
Her psychotherapy approach includes; insight oriented psychoeducation, supportive cognitive behavioral therapy, and behavioral strategies. Miriam L. Candelaria, L.M.H.C.
Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor for Mental Health
Ms. Candelaria has an enormous wealth of work history and experience, inclusive of but not limited to: mental health counseling, mentoring, paralegal/legal, military, psycho- therapy, group facilitation, clinical therapy, criminal investigation, computer analysis, and even serving as adjunct professor for the Miami-Dade College.
She has worked with children, adolescents, adults, families, couples/divorce, immigrants, geriatrics, victims/aggressors of domestic violence, addicts and multicultural populations across the state of Florida. She is extremely passionate about placing her patients first by using a variety of clinical and behavioral techniques. She trusts in her patients’ inherent strengths and abilities to help them become aware of their conditions and search for the proper treatment solution. Jerry Summerfield, M.ED, LMHC

Jerry Summerfield, M.ED, LMHC has been providing mental health and substance abuse counseling services since 2010. Jerry graduated with his Masters in Education in 2012, with an emphasis in Counseling and Human Services- Mental Health Counseling. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor by the State of Florida, a National Certified Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors and is also a Certified Case Manager from the Commission for Case Manager Certification.
Jerry is passionate about helping individuals who need to make changes to deal with life on life’s terms. During his counseling career he has worked with homeless veterans, children and families, foster families, adolescents in the juvenile probation system, and men and women with substance abuse issues.
Jerry works from a client centered, trauma informed, and needs based holistic philosophy. He holds certifications in the trauma treatments of EMDR and TF-CBT.
